Amanda Bossard, fresh out of Anchorage High School in 1992 began studying marine biology. Bossard's journey to professional success began in 1999 with a job on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65 foot vessel, which was a halibut fishing vessel, was transformed into a tender for salmon by Murat Ariatn. He is a commercial fisherman for over twenty years. Bossard married Aritan in 1999 and the pair have come together to defend their businesses. Both are advocates of saving as well as profiting from renewable resources in the fishing industry. In 2007, the mother to two kids Bella aged 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia and opened an online direct market wholesale distributor of seafood named Otolith. In 2007, Bossard mother of two children Bella, age 3, and Andre 1 and returning to Philadelphia from her home in Canada opened otolith as a wholesale direct market seafood distributor. Bossard along with Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 10 and 12 respectively) return each year, starting in July 2016 and continue to Southeast Alaska for the summer catch from wild salmon. In a small 42 salmon troller using hooks and lines to catch their targeted salmon, they are joined by Aritan during two consecutive months selling to local processors. They also continue to grow their direct market seafood products sold through Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing and packaging services provided by small processors to create unique wild seafood products that reflect their commitment to quality and the environment.
